RABBIT TRAILS is a tale recalled by Jake after his teenage years have passed. Rabbit Trails eBook Will Wyckoff
I liked Will Wyckoff's first book so much I followed him on Facebook. When he announced his second book was available I immediately ordered it on Amazon. It was not what I expected, but that is not a bad thing. It is completely different from Birds on a Wire. The only thing they have in common is the wonderful character development. Again, after a few chapters you feel like the characters are old friends and you have to keep reading to find out what happens to them. Halfway through the book takes a very unexpected twist, I finished the second half of the book in one sitting. If you enjoy mysteries or coming of age novels I highly recommend it. I guarantee it is unlike any book you have ever read.Product details

Rabbit Trails eBook Will Wyckoff Reviews
I just loved this book! Having read Will Wyckoff's first book and thoroughly enjoying it, I was sure I was not going to be disappointed. Which I most certainly was not! But I must say, I most certainly was surprised by just how I enjoyed Rabbit Trails on so many levels. You come to know the characters, the land and yes, the dog, I will admit to being a huge fan of Basset Hounds, however there is much, much more to this story. Rabbit Trails truly holds several surprises and something special for readers of all ages which goes beyond the description you may have read about this book.
Given this book by a friend so I didn't know what to expect. Turned out to be a real fun book to read and would especially appeal to young adults. The relationships between the characters were well developed and the friendships seemed real and not idealized friendships like you often see in novels. It also recalled a simpler time when kids went out into the woods and explored and sometimes things didn't go as planned. It also speaks to the exploration that is going on in young teenagers' world as they try to navigate growing up.
I also liked the fact that I really didn't know how this was going to turn out until the end. I've read a ton of books and the worst thing is to have figured out the plot half-way into the book. This had a unique conclusion that I wasn't really expecting.
Saw that he has another book on . Will have to read this as well...
I'll start by saying this is my first review...I am ashamed to admit that, especially since I have a library of approximately 2,000 books, many of them bought on due to reading great and informative reviews! So it's time for me to give back...so here goes...
I identified with the writers style from the very beginning. I like short chapters, due to the fact I am always getting interrupted and can never sit long enough to get through thirty-forty page chapters. In this book the author has it broken down to about ten pages per chapter, which I feel is perfect!
The author did a great job developing the characters in the first several chapters to set the stage for the twists and turns that were going to take place as the story unfolded. I know I am "into" a book when I can identify with the main characters, and in this one I found myself playing guessing games as to what was going to take place next with each one. Thats ALWAYS a good sign!
I don't want to give too much away about the plot, so I will keep much of this vague and comment more about style. Another talent of a good writer I believe is to bring the story to a point where the next critical chapters can go in SEVERAL different directions that dramatically effect the final conclusion. Mr. Wyckoff does a superb job at keepig the reader guessing how the plot will eventually unfold. This was not an easy one to get the final ending correct. I must say, I was wrong with the ultimate fashion in which the story ended. It surprised me, which is not a bad thing!
Overall I have to say this was a really good read. It was entertaining! I sat down on a Friday night and by Sunday lunch it was over. It's a great family oriented, small town setting, feel good story with a suspenseful ending. There are most likely many kids like Jake McGee in real life that suffer due to the loss of a loved one, and they don't want to let go, I just hope they also get to experience much of the "good stuff" he did on his journey. The friendships (including the dog!), the family values, the life lessons...all brought together in print by what looks to be a great new author!
Job well done!
What a wonderful book, once I started reading it I couldn't put it down. The end left me speechless not at all what I expected. I will recommend this book to my friends.
I got this book last week and just finished it last night! A good book! Actually kept my attention! I went to the school and I know some of the "characters"! )
I bought this book to take on vacation and read while chilling on the beach. It didn't let me down, the only problem was I read it in a day and a half. From young love, rekindling of friendships, commitment and unconditional love for family, and an element of surprise, it is a journey worth taking for all ages. I look forward to your next one.... By the way, to share it with others, I left it in a library in St. Maarten so more of the world can enjoy it!
What a surprise! From the very familiar story of small town life and local politics to current events on a much larger scale, this story was written to engage the reader. The addition of a whole other level to the plot was delightful. Definitely recommending this one!
